Rockford, Illinois native George Fell was an unlikely of conservation hero. With no job, money, or political connections, he pioneered new organizations to protect the last native prairies, woodlands and wetlands throughout Illinois. Now, The Nature Conservancy, the Illinois Nature Preserves Commission, the Natural Areas Association are among the nation’s leaders in protecting our natural heritage. Fell’s biographer, Arthur Pearson will provide an overview of Fell’s career, including his impact in Lake County, Illinois.
