Great workshop for both parents and educators
Navigating as a parent in today’s technology rich world is confusing. It is common to struggle with providing web accessible devices and balance protecting kids from the potentially harmful effects of using them. Join us for a presentation on topics that include creating boundaries with mobile devices, watching for potentially dangerous apps, what expectation of privacy should my child have, dealing with inappropriate content and online social conflict. After the presentation will be an opportunity to ask questions.
Tony DeMonte is currently the Administrator for Technology, Information and Safety at Wilmette Public School District 39 in Wilmette, Illinois. He has been a champion of incorporating technology into instruction. He is also a local resident, married with four children where he has navigated his own personal challenges on the topic. He will be joined by Tami Martin from Gurnee PD and staff from Warren Township Youth Services.
Founded in 1973, the award-winning Warren-Newport Public Library serves a population of approximately 60,000 within a 55-square mile area. The library offers books, movies, and music in the collections and engaging programs for all ages. WNPL also provides many educational and entertaining online resources, including ebooks, eaudiobooks, streaming media and research databases.
