Spring Wreath

Join us virtually for STEAM activities that you can do at home!

Supplies needed:

• poster board (or inside of cereal box!)
• colored card stock, scrapbook paper, or construction paper
• green paint or markers / paint brush
• stick on gem stones, or a hole punch on paper
• ribbon to hang
• scissors
• glue
• tape​

Directions: (see images below)

1. Trace a 9 inch circle on poster board or the inside of a cereal box. You could use a 9 inch plate as a template if you have one.  Next, trace and cut out a smaller 5 inch circle inside the larger circle to make a wreath shape. 
2. Cut various colors of card stock into squares.  For the large flowers use a 3 inch square for the base and a 2 1/2 inch square for the smaller top layer.  
3. Take one of your squares and fold it in half and then in half again.  Try to make a crisp fold.  Next, fold once more creating a triangle.
4. Make a teardrop shape out of the top of the folded triangle.  Do the same for all of the squares.
5. To give the flowers dimension cut along one of the folds and then glue one of the petals on top of the other.  Let dry a few minutes.
6. Next, glue the two layers of flowers together.  Add dot center and allow to dry a while.
7. Cut leaves out of green paper.  You can do this freehand or make a template.
8. Glue the flowers around your wreath.  Let the flowers dry a few minutes to set and then start adding the leaves one at a time.  Insert the leaves with a bit of glue as desired.  Allow to completely dry overnight.
9. To finish attach a piece of ribbon to the back to hang.
