Get your whisk, and mixing bowl and join WNPL librarians online as they demonstrate something fun for kids to do in the kitchen. (Some supervision or help is required!)
Video will become available the day of the program.
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 large eggs, lightly beaten
2 medium, ripe bananas (1 cup mashed)
1/2 cup plain or vanilla Greek Yogurt
1/4 cup maple syrup (or white sugar)
1/4 cup brown sugar
Optional add-ins: 1/2 cup chocolate chips / raisins / nuts
1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees, and lightly grease a 9x5 inch bread pan. (I sometimes even use a bundt pan)
2. In a large bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt. Stir until well combined and set aside.
3. Lightly beat the eggs in a medium sized mixing bowl. Add mashed bananas, Greek Yogurt, maple syrup, and brown sugar. Stir until well combined.
4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently. Do not overmix.
5. Pour the batter into the loaf pan, spreading it out evenly, and bake 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean.
6. Remove from the oven (have an adult do this part) and let cool for about 10 minutes before removing from pan to finish cooling completely.
*depending on how sweet you want your bread to be, you can easily leave out the brown sugar and just use the maple syrup, especially if you add chocolate chips.
