Mental Health First Aid Training (English)

Meeting Room A/BRegister today for WNPL's first Mental Health First Aid training course. Presented in partnership with Waukegan Public Library & Lake County Health Department.
Through this free 8-hour course, you will learn how to help someone who is developing a mental health concern or is going through a mental health crisis. This training will teach you how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders. This hands-on learning experience includes discussion topics, scenarios, and other activities to keep you engaged in the course and give you an opportunity to practice helping skills.
The workshop teaches:
- How to recognize the signs and symptoms of a mental health challenge
- How to listen non-judgmentally and give reassurance to a person who may be experiencing a mental health challenge
- How to refer a person to appropriate professional support and services
A 30-minute independent lunch break will be included. Registration will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Participants need to be either residents of, or work in Lake County, Illinois.
