In honor of Black History Month, we invite library patrons to contribute to a powerful, collective artwork that celebrates the richness and diversity of Black experiences in America.
The Heritage Tree is a vibrant, living mural where each participant can share their personal reflections, stories, and insights by writing them on paper leaves that will be added to the tree throughout the month.
Each "leaf" represents a unique voice within the Black community, honoring both individual journeys and the collective heritage that shapes the nation. Whether sharing experiences of joy, struggle, triumph, or resilience, this project offers a space for community members to engage in meaningful reflection and dialogue.
The Heritage Tree will remain on display at the library, reminding all who visit of the power of storytelling and the importance of heritage.
This project invites everyone—regardless of background or age—to be part of this shared journey, embracing the opportunity to reflect, learn, and celebrate together.
The Heritage Tree will be available throughout the month of February.
